At
my hypnotherapy
practice in Cheltenham hundreds of smokers have found it easy
to quit smoking using hypnosis and the power of hypnotic suggestion.
These are normal people, like you, that by using hypnosis and hypnotherapy
were able to do something amazing and stop smoking quickly, easily
and effectively, and NEVER touch or want a cigarette again!

Stopping smoking is one of the most common reasons that people consult a hypnotherapist and therapists are usually judged on their success rate in this field.
The stop smoking method I use has over the years shown an amazing 95% success rate.
UNDERSTANDING exactly how smoking works and the psychological motivations behind why you smoke is the KEY to being able to stop permanently and completely. The other important and incredible tool for stopping smoking is the state of HYPNOSIS.
All about smoking
'I'm addicted to nicotine and smoking...' I hear you say.
Nope. Not at all.
And your BELIEF that you are is one of the reasons (amongst others) that you have found it difficult to quit. Many many people, including drug companies, the NHS and even hypnotherapists try and treat the addiction but smoking isn't addictive (and I'll show you why in the hypnotherapy session).
The late Professor Hans Eysenck (one of the world's most famous psychologists), said that 'Smoking is not an addiction because the term 'addiction' really has no scientific meaning ... You can call anything addictive which a person does routinely and which he would be sorry to stop doing...'
Interestingly, in 1996 Dr Sandy Macara, the then chairman of the British Medical Association and a former smoker, wrote 'I don't accept that smokers are truly addicted to tobacco. I think they have a habit ... I believe the majority of smokers could stop tomorrow - no, today - if they really wanted to.'
To understand smoking and why you smoke we need to look at the PSYCHOLOGY behind it (not the physical effects).

The psychology of smoking
Smoking is all about stress and reward. You have a hard day at work...you smoke and feel better....your partner nags you.....you smoke and immediately feel better.....your boss shouts at you....you smoke and feel better.....
So you quit smoking and ditch the cigarettes for the fourth year running with willpower/patches/gum because you think you're life is going to be wonderful without it, but then you don't see any immediate benefits......your work is still hard.......your partner still nags you.........your boss is still the same, and NOW you haven't got anything to relax you and reduce your stress!
You 'give up' the one thing that actually helps you to feel less stressed...for no immediate 'reward' or 'incentive'. It's no wonder that you feel tense, stroppy, angry and irritable!
So what is the best way to give up smoking? Does it have to be hard? NO! Stopping smoking can be incredibly easy.

Most effective way to stop smoking IS HYPNOSIS
In the 1990's scientifc publication New Scientist carried out a massive study into all of the different methods of stopping smoking. The study involved 70,000 people and concluded that the most effective way of quitting smoking was HYPNOSIS.
So then, what if you could stop smoking in a single session with
hypnosis and feel FANTASTIC? What if you could completely understand the psychology behind the behaviour of smoking enabling you to quit SIMPLY and EASILY?
What if positive hypnotic suggestion could be placed deep in your unconscious mind so that you really do feel CALMER, more confident and more RELAXED?
Wouldn't it be easy to be a NON SMOKER? Of course it would!

Common questions about stopping smoking with Richard at the Cheltenham Hypnotherapy Clinic
How many sessions does it take to stop smoking?
One session, normally lasting about an hour and a quarter.
How much does it cost?
A stop smoking session is currently £180.
Why does this type of session cost more than normal sessions?
Helping people to stop smoking is a specialist skill. It takes experience, time, preparation and a lot more insight/effort/training/skill - in other words it is a far more involving session than your normal type of suggestion therapy session.
Why is your hypnotherapy so successful?
Partly because I have seen many, many smokers and built up a lot of experience, but also because the therapy session it isn't JUST about stopping smoking, but also improving yourself / your life. My aim isn't just to help you to quit smoking, but for you to feel more positive, confident, full of life, happier, calmer, less stressed (see testimonials below).
Instead of merely 'stopping', we are helping you to change your BELIEF SYSTEM so that you can live life as a NON SMOKER, not just a smoker that has stopped.
Richard, I have seen a hypnotist before and it didn't work?
There could be many reasons for this - was it the right time for you? Did you feel comfortable with the other therapist? Did they understand how smoking works? Did they understand about belief systems and how they affect us? Did they try and lecture you about how bad smoking is (which you already know and it doesn't help much!).
I have seen many people that have previously tried hypnotherapy - you will find my approach / session very different.
Do I need to put some effort in?
Yes. You WILL need to put in 110% effort - but I won't ask you to do anything that you can't do, or anything that is difficult.
I can help you to make the transition from smoker to non-smoker very smooth and very easy if you are committed and as long as you put lots of effort in yourself as well.
