Impotence usually occurs in one of three different ways:
a) the man cannot get an erection at all
b) the man can achieve a partial erection but not enough for full sex
c) the erection cannot be sustained
Impotence is very common in younger males and especially in those who have new partners. Stress and anxiety are well known to have a significant impact on sexual dysfunctions such as impotence or premature ejaculation and persistent erection problems often lead to the man going through depression, feelings of failure, embarrassment, losing desire for sex, frustration, relationship problems and feelings of inadequacy.
Impotence is very common
In the UK, at least 1 in 10 men suffer from erection problems, which equates to over 2.3 million males . Another american research study found that 52% of men aged 40–70 years reported some degree of erectile dysfunction, and 35% reported experiencing moderate or complete erectile dysfunction .
Impotence also has strong links with Social Anxiety, a performance related anxiety where the more the person feels 'on the spot' the worse and more embarrassed they feel.
In most cases of Impotence or ED, there is nothing physically wrong with the man suffering from it, though certain things such as excessive alcohol, smoking, high blood pressure, diabetes or various medications can have an impact. These should be ruled out by a visit to your G.P.

How can hypnotherapy help erection dysfunction?
As the root of Impotence problems are very often psychological in origin, hypnotherapy is entirely suitable as a treatment for it. By resolving the emotional or psychological conflict or anxiety that is causing the erection dysfunction it is possible to provide a lasting or indeed in many cases permanent resolution of the problem.
