A Phobia is an extreme emotional reaction felt INSIDE yourself,
triggered off by something OUTSIDE.
Hypnotherapy is a fantastic way of treating a fear of flying because
phobias are emotional how and what you think affects
how you feel and behave.
A fear of flying is a control anxiety, so people with
a fear of flying or planes are usually anxious generally about
'losing control' and the trauma of flying and travelling triggers
the anxiety (of losing control) and emotions to come to the surface
often creating many associated symptoms such as breathlessness,
panic attacks, anxiety attacks, worry, tension, panic, higher
blood pressure etc.
How hypnotherapy treats fear of flying
In a typical Suggestion hypnotherapy
session for help with fear of flying it is split into two
parts - a 'talky' bit at the beginning of the session, followed
by a relaxing hypnosis session at the end in which positive hypnotic
suggestions are used.
At the beginning of the session several psychological techniques
are discussed (in plain english) that will really help you to
be more positive about travelling and feeling more in control.
Most helpful of all, you will learn simple but powerful techniques
to gain control over your anxiety or phobia and feel much more
in charge of your own thoughts...and therefore your own emotions
and anxiety attacks.
The session normally lasts approx 60-90 minutes.
Topics discussed in a hypnotherapy fear of flying session
include:
- Coue's Law
- Bernheim's rules of suggestion
- Conscious and unconscious mind - what's the difference?
- How we often give ourselves negative suggestions (without realising it)
- How to stop negative thinking about flying
- How to become more positive and more in control using simple but powerful techniques
- How to create MORE self belief and feel fantastic about yourself
Other anxiety issues or panic attacks
If the fear of flying is serious and ongoing, or where there are
a number of other issues, anxieties or panic attacks, then a course
of analytical hypnotherapy would
almost certainly be more suitable to deal with some of the root
causes of these major emotional issues.
